The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in the country. The gardens of Schonbrunn spread over many acres all around the Palace and abound with things to see, nice views and shaded paths. To stroll on foot in the park of Schonbrunn Palace, you have to allow for a whole day: if you do not have that much time, or if you can not or do not like to walk much, it is possible to discover Schonbrunn gardens either via a carriage tour, or on the tourist train. We opted for the train.

The stations of the Panorama Train:
1: Schonbrunn Palace
2: Wagenburg
3: Hietzinger Gate
4: Zoo/Palm House
5: Tirolergarten Tavern
6: Gloriette Hill
7: Hohenbergstraße/Tivoli
8: Obelisk Fountain /Schönbrunn Spa
9: Meidlinger Gate

Trains run daily from 10:00 am to 18:00 (6:00 pm). They stop every hour and every half-hour at the Gloriette Hill and the Schönbrunn Palace. A day pass costs €7.00 for adults, €4.00 for children 14 and under, and €4.00 for handicapped persons. With ticket and hand stamps, passengers can get on and off the train as often as they like. Please check recent timings and prices.*

2) Tiergarten Schönbrunn, or “Vienna Zoo”:

This zoo located on the grounds of the famous Schönbrunn Palace. Founded as an imperial menagerie in 1752, it is the oldest zoo in the world.

Panda was the only reason we decided to visit this zoo!. Yes, Pandas, cute teddy bears.. who love to eat and sleep. Well, when we gave them a visit.. they were doing the same. There was cute panda who was up on a tree and sleeping, holding the branch tight!

3) Graben
Graben is one of the most famous streets in central Vienna. Graben means “trench” in German. This trench became one of the first residential streets in Vienna. Today it is an up-scale shopping street. It also a great place to hang-out. There are plenty of food joints and street performers to entertain the crowds, and the street also features some very interesting architecture. We took horse ride too. It was a pleasant experience 🙂

4) Vienna Opera House
Its has amazing architecture. It sparkles more in the night.

5) The Hofburg Imperial Palace

The Hofburg Imperial Palace has played an integral part of the Austrian government scene since it was built in the 13th century. It has been home to some of Europe’s most powerful royalty over the centuries, including the Hapsburgs and rulers of the Holy Roman and Austro-Hungarian empires. Today it is a museum and home to the president of Austria. The palace has numerous wings and halls built by various royalty over the centuries, but only three parts are open to the public today: the Imperial Apartments; the Sisi Museum, dedicated to Elizabeth, wife of Emperor Franz Joseph, and the Silver Collection, a collection of Imperial household objects.
